Description

A chalazion is a benign, painless bump or swelling those forms on the eyelid. It occurs when an oil gland (meibomian gland) in the eyelid becomes blocked, leading to the build-up of oil and the formation of a lump. Chalazia are typically not contagious and are different from styes, which are infections of the eyelid glands.
